Swiss National Research Program (NRP) Project on Covid Norms

As part of the National Covid-19 Research Program (NFP 78), the fög, together with the Department of Communication and Media Research (IKMZ), has been awarded the project "Covid-Norms". Over the course of two years (September 2020–August 2022), social norms on various Covid-19 protection measures, such as using the SwissCovid app and wearing face masks, will be studied.

The project’s aim is to understand what role different forms of communication play in the development of social norms on protective measures. For this purpose, survey data from the Swiss population will be combined with content analysis data on public debates in traditional and social media. Close cooperation with the Federal Office of Public Health ensures that the scientific findings are directly incorporated into communication strategies and prevention measures.
