UFSP Digital Religion(s)

Together with the Department of Communication and Media Research, the fög is involved in the University Research Program (UFSP) “Digital Religion(s)”. In the interdisciplinary consortium, researchers from the fields of theology, religious studies, linguistics and computational linguistics, sociology, media and communication studies and law cooperate. The UFSP investigates the influence of digitisation on the religious practices of individuals and institutions. Research topics include religious identity formation and the development of online and offline community networks, medial communication practices of mourning and pastoral care and the phenomena of region-specific digital education.

 The fög is working on the sub-project ‘Religious Organizations in the Public Sphere: Communication and Reputation in Times of Digital Change’ launched in 2021 by the IKMZ Chair Public Sphere and Society. More information can be found on the project website.
